Following a thorough eye examination you are invited to take advantage of a personal consultation
with one of Wheatcroft's fully qualified dispensing opticians. They will discuss
your needs with you and guide you through the many options which will best suit
you. There will be many things you may wish to take into account - whether you
seek the very highest quality or simply want a basic pair or perhaps something
in between. At Wheatcroft's we want to give you advice and information so that
you can decide exactly what you want, based on an informed choice.
Lenses
Having taken great care in choosing a new frame it is easy to make the mistake of thinking that
lenses are all fairly standard. Certain prescriptions will require special
lenses. Those who require reading spectacles may prefer bifocal or progressive
addition lenses rather than having two separate pairs of spectacles. Even when
we understand the basic choice, we are still only just beginning.
Developments in materials have created a breakthrough in terms of lens thickness and weight.
Modern computer aided design technology and high index resins have led to
advances which have made lenses lighter, thinner and flatter than ever before.
Tough anti-reflection coatings improve optical performance and enhance cosmetic
appearance. Transitions lenses can combine all of these features with a lens
which also goes dark in sunlight. Safety can also be important feature,
especially where children and the very active are concerned. Perhaps impact
resistant polycarbonate lenses might be a consideration. These benefits can be
enjoyed by all spectacle wearers, not just those with very high prescriptions.
With such a bewildering array of products available from a host of manufacturers it can be
difficult to know what will suit you the best, both in terms of quality and
price. At Wheatcroft's we recognise that choice is important. That is why we do
not restrict our use of lenses to any particular manufacturer. Greater choice
for us means a better choice for you. We have years of experience with lenses
from Zeiss, Nikon,
Tokai,
Rodenstock,
Essilor,
Hoya,
Sola
and Seiko, to name but a few.
